The internet is becoming the town square for the global village of tomorrow. – Bill Gates
Hello traveler! I’m Matic and this is my little place at the end of the internet. Well almost at the end – as of November 2018, there are only 22 top-level domains after .xyz.I like my privacy, so there won’t be much of anything that is not relevant to my work or education. That said, lets dive into events that shaped my journey.
Education
Brief overview of my formal education.
2002 – 2010 Primary school
In 2002 I started primary school. I switched two schools in the process of my mandatory education and finished it in 2010, with no idea what I want to do. Key figure in helping me choose a path forward was my father that inspired me to choose computer science.
2010 – 2014 High school
Began visiting High school of Computer science in Velenje (ERŠ ŠCV) and started learning everything there is to know about computers.
Curriculum became exciting in 3th year, when we finally started coding. Had great professors at key subjects such as programming, databases and information that allowed inclusion of my side projects. Forth year went by fast and here you go, I got a high school degree for computer science.
I failed 5th graduation subject (physics) which forced me to spend the following year out of education system learning new things on my own while I finished the 5th subject. Looking back, this was one of the bigger fails on my record, but I have felt really alive and stress free.
2015/2016 University
Next year I enrolled to Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and (tried to) study Economics. Main reason was my interest in financial markets. Little did I know that that another fail was incoming.
When second semester passed, I knew I wouldn’t want to continue pursuing economics, but rather continue to work and study in field of computer science. I did get some knowledge about the basics of law, management and economics that were a good base for my future endeavors into those fields as a student of life and business.
2016 – present
Higher school for IT engineer degree
Moved back to Velenje, continued working and enrolled in Higher school of education (VSS ŠCV) to become an IT engineer. Difficulty level was none existent, so I was able to finish first year with pretty much zero effort.
Opened a firm on 6.2.2017 and became self-employed. History from this part on is covered in my resume. Work schedule pushed me away from school so I could focus on work. This year I am making an effort to finish second year and get my degree.
eBeat Startup
In June 2013 I was one of 5 founding members of startup eBeat. We won two startup competitions in a row and got a chance to present our idea at 3-day event TechCrunch Disrupt in Berlin (November 2013). This subject is very long and exhausting, so I decided to write a blog post on this topic, available here.
This were the most impactful series of events that accrued to me, made me realize who I want to be and in many ways shaped who I am today.
Šaleški Študentski klub
I was a part of Šaleški študentski klub for around 6 years. During that time I had many different roles, ranging from bare physical work to promotor, event organizer etc. For one year while studying in Ljubljana, I was the representative at Svet ŠOLS. Actually made my first ever production website for ŠŠK with WordPress – dmk.si.
Overview of what I do. Can solve more problems, but this are areas I focus on. Feel free to drop me a line if you have a problem for me via contact form.

2020 lill.si
One of the largest highly customised WP projects I built. It has a custom booking system, payment provider integration, iCal refresh, fiscalization (Čebelica API), cancellation policy, booking price calculation, 2 different booking flows, a POS terminal for on-premise payments, email notification system and other features. The plugin has around 10k rows of code. The theme that I used as a base had good front-end but it also had bloated functionality, poor theme settings and some bad design choices that I had to overcome. The child theme has around 25k rows of code. More about the development of this site in a future blog post.
